How To Do What You Love And Love What You Do

last year

I annoy a lot of people when I tell them that when you wake up in the mornings, you have a choice. I might annoy people, but I refuse to stop saying it! You can either love what you do or hate it!

On the one hand, you can look at the day ahead with excitement. Looking for the opportunities you have to make it an awesome day. On the other hand, you can fill your mind with dread and apprehension about what the day ahead might bring.

If you are able to make your first thought of the day a positive one, the chances are your day will be good. Definitely much better than if your first thought is a negative. But even I fully admit that this is easier said than done if you do not do what you love!

Now, obviously, we’re not going to love everything we end up doing throughout the day. I don’t know about you, but I never look forward to ironing. But I would say that it is essential for you to be able to find some things to look forward to every day. The more things you can look forward to in your life, the more fulfilled you’ll feel and happier you’ll be.

I’ve created a free ebook you can download called Love What You do For A Living. You can grab this right now (click the massive button below) and fill yourself with motivation and excitement. But for now, I want to talk about how you can spend the love into all aspects of life.

How to love what you do!

Do what you love For A Living

Is going to work generally something you look forward to or is it something that fills you with dread? I say generally because we all have bad days. I used to work in schools, which I loved. But there would be a few days here and there that I dreaded because I knew I had a group of tricky pre-teens ahead of me!

If you’re not enjoying what you’re doing, on a regular basis, it may well be time to look into a career change. No amount of money is worth being miserable. Work takes up a considerable percentage of our time. It’s challenging to love who you are if you don’t enjoy 80% of your day.

Now, some of you might be thinking that work is work and there is no way you could ever find a job you love. Ha! I don’t care who you are or what your background is, there is always a way! Everyone can be happy and content with what they do. You will never convince me otherwise.

To do what you love for a living requires you to spend some time finding what you are passionate about. It is possible to make a living, make a difference AND fulfil your purpose all at the same time.

Love what you do and how you feel at home

It doesn’t matter where you call home, it always holds a special place in our hearts. Whenever I’ve moved house (which has been a fair few times), it always takes me a little while to refer to the house as “home”. As soon as I catch myself saying something like “I’m going home”, I know that I have managed to make the house my safe place. It has changed from a house to a sanctuary.

Wherever it is, home ought to be a place we want to go, and we enjoy spending time. So, to make the most of this love, safety, and enjoyment our home needs to be a place we enjoy taking care of.

Next time you get a chance, take a look around your home. What do you love about it? What makes you smile? How does your home make you feel safe and comfortable? On the other hand, what don’t you love about your home?

What can you do about that?

When you look around, you might feel like you want to start to improve your surroundings. But always start small. It'd amaze you what a huge difference a few minor changes can make.

Moving into your dream house may not be an option right now. But you might be able to add a lick of paint to your walls and hang up some pictures. Bit by bit you can turn your home into somewhere you love to be.

I know, I know, you might be in a situation where you can’t do much about your job or your home. I get it. BUT there are other ways to include things you love into your day.

It’s so important to find something you enjoy doing to give you a little escapism every now and again. It might be something as simple as curling up with a good book or watching a film. Or, you never know, you might discover you love gardening, playing golf, or photography. It does not matter what it is as long as it is something you love and enjoy.

Make yourself smile by finding a hobby and making sure you make some time for it in your busy schedule.
